“My Dad grew up in a rural Chinese village in 60s. Sweet treats were scarce back then, so whenever hawkers passed through the vicinity, Dad would bring a coin he’d saved for months, and chase them down the streets. In this picture, Dad is stalking an elderly hawker selling candied hawthorn berries – a popular street snack in Northern China.”
